Toria Edmonds-Howell

Toria Edmonds-HowellToria Edmonds-Howell is a 2007 advanced studies graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, who has not only excelled in the classroom, but who has also proven herself to be an exceedingly outstanding contributor to her community.

Her academic honors include the Thomas Jefferson 2006 Most Outstanding Student in Algebra 2, the Thomas Jefferson Scholar Roll, the 11th Grade Academic Team Award (given to students with a 4.0 or better GPA), the Algebra 2 Award (given to students who scored a perfect score of 600 on the Standards of Learning Test), and the Collegiate Interact Scholarship. She was also a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society.

Toria's community service credits are remarkable. She has served and continutes to serve as a summer camp counsleor for the Richmond Police Athletic League. She is also a lacrosse coach for the Humphrey Calder Inner-City Lacrosse Team, where she provides advice to children about the importance of sportsmanchsip and becoming a team player. In addition, she serves as the Thomas Jefferson High School's Key Club President. In this role, she coordinates the service opportunities for the club members to participate in activites such as the Salvation Army's Angel Tree and fundraisers for the Children's Hospital. Moreover, Toria served as a teen helper, role model, and mentor to young children at the Richmond East District Initiative T.E.E.N. Center.

Some of Toria's extracurricular and leadership activities include being Senior Class Vice President of Student Government, National Honor Society Vice President, Key Club President, and Yearbook Co-Editor. She was also a member of the Girls' Varsity Track & Field Team as well as the Student Council Association.

Toria will attend the University of Virginia in the Fall, where she plans to pursue a degree in Political Science.
