Terrence Austin is a 2008 advanced studies graduate of Richmond Community High School. In addition to his stellar academic accomplishments, he also exhibited outstanding leadership skills while engaged in a multitude of extracurricular and community activities.
Terrence's academic honors include highest GPA in Honors French 11 and Honors French 12, the Richmond Community Scholar Roll, 2007 Dean's List, and the Richmond Community High School Principal's Award for Academic Achievement and Positive Attitude. He was also a semi0finalist in the "Challenge the Experts Scholarship" essay contest.
Terrence has been a highly motivated student and a thoroughly committed student leader. Not only was he a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Student Government, and the National Honor Society, Terrence also held leadership roles as Parliamentarian and Chairman of several committees within these organizations. In Future Business Leaders of America, he placed 2nd in the Parliamentary Procedures and in the Cyber Security regional competitions.
Terrence is committed to serving the community. He volunteered over 160 community service hours in capacities where he worked at the public library, participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership program (helping to design projects to better the community), tutored students as a Freshman Orientation Math Assistant, and was selected to have open discussions about city related issues with Mayor L. Douglas Wilder as part of the Mayor's Youth LEadership Forum. Terrence also assisted the Richmond Sheriff's Department with events for children as part of the P.R.O.M.I.S.E. (Promoting Responsible Outstanding Men & Women in Securing Employment) program and interned at Westminster Canterbury through the Partnership for the Future Program.
Terrence's academic interests include writing and psychology. He plans to attend Virginia Tech in the Fall and has long-term aspirations of becoming a Forensic Psychologist. |
