As salutatorian of the 2010 graduating class at Richmond Community High School, Kalyne Coleman has taken several advanced placement courses and dual enrollment classes at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. With a 4.7 GPA, Kalyne’s academic accolades include Outstanding Student Awards (9, 10, 11) for English, Spanish, and Ecology; Math Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and recipient of the RCHS Principal’s Award (9) which is the highest achievement for students in each class.
Kalyne’s extracurricular activities include Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA 9-12) where she served as Regional President (12), Chapter President (12) and Chapter Vice President (11). She has served as Chapter Vice President (12) of the National Honor Society, Executive Board President (10) of the RCHS Student Government, Peer Mediator, Youth Leader of the Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Project, and tutor and mentor for elementary schools and other youth programs. She was an active member of the Key Club, Model United Nations Group, and served as a youth conflict resolution trainer for the Richmond Peace Education Center. Kalyne also enjoys acting, music, and other art forms. She has participated in many artistic performances as an actress, orator, dancer, band member (clarinet), artist, model, Alpha Kappa Alpha debutante, and writer. In fact, she won 1st place in the Oliver Hill Essay Contest. Her paper was featured in the Richmond Times—Dispatch, Richmond Free Press, and The Voice.
In addition to her academic and extracurricular commitments, Kalyne also holds a part-time job. She is highly regarded as a young lady that is “impressive academically and exceptional personally.”
Kalyne has many future career interests and will attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall. |
