Chelsea Hopson is a 2010 graduate of Richmond Community High School and an outstanding student who has demonstrated her ability to excel both in and out of the classroom. With a GPA of 4.85, Chelsea’s academic accomplishments include the National Honor Society (11,12); Spanish Honor Society (10, 11, 12); Key Club (10, 11, 12); Mu Alpha Theta (10, 11, 12), Peer Mediators/Facilitators (11, 12); Most Outstanding student in Geometry, Chemistry, and Biology; and Scholar Roll (9-12). She has held numerous leadership positions to include President of the National Honor Society (12), Leader of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) Community Service Project, Treasurer of the Spanish Honor Society, and Junior and Senior Class Vice President.
Chelsea’s community service projects include Boys and Girls Club of Richmond, Kanawha Breast Cancer Walk, M.A.D.D., and Angel Tree. Her extracurricular activities include Volleyball (11, 12) and Basketball (9-12), where she served as Captain in both her junior and senior years.
Chelsea is regarded by one of her instructors as an extremely well-rounded, empathetic, bright young lady who will wow her college community just as she has wowed her high school community.
Chelsea was inspired by the 1993 movie And the Band Played On, which told the story of the AIDS epidemic. After watching the film and attending a college lecture at Virginia Polytech University, Chelsea was inspired not only to choose a career path in medicine, but to think big. She aspires to one day win the Nobel Prize in biochemistry! With her ambition and strong desire to be successful, there is no doubt that she will achieve her goals.
Chelsea plans to attend Wake Forest in the fall and major in Pre-Medicine/ Biological Sciences. |
