Beverly Richardson

Beverly Richardson - No Picture AvailableBeverly Richardson is a 2007 graduate of Richmond Community High School, and was ranked number three in her senior class. Her commitment to academic excellence has made her a true standout among her peers. Beverly has undeniably met and exceeded all the expectations of her teachers and counselors. As one of her teachers said, "Beverly is one of the students who makes a difference."

IIn addition to her academic achievements, Beverly's involvement in extracurricular, community, and work activities has been outstanding. Beverly has made it her goal to excel among her peers. She has been involved in such programs and activities as the Engineering Program at the University of Virginia, Projecte ACEe and Exploring Engineering at the University of Maryland. To further enhance her knowledge base, Beverly enrolled in Human Genetics classes at MCV, which were held on Saturdays. As her school counsleor said in her recommendation letter, Beverly is "a very motivated young lady who has potential beyond measures." Beverly's apparent desire to help others shines through her community involvement in volunteer activities like the Walk for Diabetes, James River Adventures, Race for the Cure, and the Clothing Ministries at Faith Landmarks Ministries. Beverly exemplifies a hard worker with a passion for knowledge, a love for science, and a desire to help others. "She unselfishly contributes her areas of expertise to the underclassmen to help them becom successful in their academics."

Beverly has taken special membership involvement in such acclaimed organizations as the National Society of Black Engineers (where she served as co-president of the chapter), Future Business Leaders of America, and the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society.

Beverly will be attending the University of Maryland in the Fall where she will major in Bio-Engineering. Her long-time passion and aspiration is to be a part of a research team dedicated to the awareness, prevention, and treatement of genetic disorders. She hopes to assist in finding a cure for genetic diseases.
