Adrianne Fowlkes is a 2007 advanced studies graduate of Open High School. Described by her counselor as an avid reader with a mature approach to llearning, it is no wonder that Adrianne has excelled in her time at Open High School (OHS).
Adrianne's passion and devotion to education is to be admired. Though she finally settled at Open High School, Adrianne maintained a position on the marching band at George Wythe High School and continued her volunteer efforts as an Office Assistant there. An aspiring journalist, Adrianne's love for reading led her to push for a school newspaper at OHS after attending a workshop at the RIchmond Times-Dispatch. Adding to her already impressive repertoire of workat OHS, Adrianne took on four college-level courses. Some of her accomplishments include an Outstanding Award in Spanish and English, participation in AMATYC (American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges) at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, and addition to Who's Who Among American High School Students.
Adrianne's passion for education is oly surpassed by her passion for her fairth. She is currently enrolled in an evangelism course, as it is her fervent desire to become an evangelist. Her lists of accomplishments within her church are as diverse and wide-ranging as those in school. She has been a member of the Praise Team, Step Team captain, sponsor of "Mine in Ministry" and member of the evangelism team. Undoubtedly, her devotion to her faith has led to her triumphant successes in her education and enabled her to hold the honor of being a first-generation college-bound student.
Adrianne's academic interests include journalism and the Spanish language. She intends to ddpen her knowledge of these two interests and plans to major in English and minor in Spanish at North Carolina Central University. She also plans to pursue Master's and Doctorate degrees in Journalism.
