Michelle Lewis

MichelleLewisMichelle Lewis is a 2009 scholar graduate and valedictorian of her class at Richmond Community High School.

Her academic accolades are extraordinary. Michelle earned the highest grade point average (GPA) in the city of Richmond this year! In addition, she was also selected as a delegate from her school for the Hugh O'Brien Leadership Conference. This distinct honor is only offered to one student from each high school every year. She was also selected to participate in the Science Training and Research Program (STAR) at the College of William and Mary and NSF Summer Academy at Bennett College for Women. In her junior year at Richmond Community, Michelle was enrolled in dual courses at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College where she completed four Advanced Placement courses. Other academic honors include: Chapter President and Regional Vice President of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); Vice President of the National Spanish Honor Society, Vice President of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, and an inductee to the National Honor Society.

Having been honored by her peers with the Student in the Spotlight Award, Michelle has demonstrated that she is not only an academic powerhouse, but she is a well-rounded individual too. Her extracurricular activities include: Captain of the Varsity Volleyball Team All Academic Team; Team Captain of the Junior Varsity Softball Team; Freshman Class delegate of Student Government and Sophomore Class president of the Student Government.

Michelle was a counselor in training at the Boys & Girls Club of Richmond, where she accumulated over 650 hours of volunteer service. She is a part of the Youth in Action Missions Ministry at her church, and organized the annual coat drive as sophomore class president at Richmond Community.

Michelle's future goal is to become a dermatologist. She will attend Spelman College in the fall with plans to major in Biology.
