Juan Wilson is a 2009 honor student, athlete, and graduate of Open High School. His academic honors include Honor Roll, Academic All-District, and Dean's List.
Described as a mature and conscientious student, Juan has also distinguished himself as a well respected member of the community. He has consistently given his time to serve as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club where he devoted 600 hours of community service over the course of three years! He also worked as a student assistant in the Open High School office and as a teacher assistant at Carver Elementary School, where he interacted with kindergarten students every day. It was there that he realized that being a role model was so critical, and that giving back to the community was something that he had to do.
Juan is a compassionate and dependable young man. In addition to his academic and community service efforts, Juan was able to balance athleticism on the basketball court, hold a job after school, and maintain a commitment to excellence in all areas. Juan would like to improve his basketball skills in college in the hope that one day he can become a coach and continue to be a role model for young children. His future entrepreneurial plans are to own his own business. Although he is not sure what that business will be, he knows that it will be one that serves a community.
Juan plans to attend Virginia Union University in the fall and will major in Entrepreneurial Management.
